SERVICES & TESTIMONIALS

The Counselling Sessions

Availability, location & cost

Approach & Techniques used

I initially provide a free, no obligation telephone consultation, to chat about the issues you are facing, as it is important for you to ensure you choose the right counsellor for you, and this gives you the opportunity to decide if you would feel happy working with me.

The weekly sessions last 50 minutes in a safe non-judgmental space, where you can be yourself and tell your story at your own pace. The sessions are personalised to you, so you are completely in charge of what you talk about, and we can go in any direction you need. Together we can explore what you are feeling in the hope of working towards the happier and healthier you that you deserve.

Approach & Techniques used

I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including cognitive-behavioural therapy, psycho-dynamic, person-centred counselling and mindfulness practises, to help you overcome negative thought patterns and behaviours. As well as talking therapy, I use additional resources such as stones, art therapy and worksheets, which are tailored to your individual needs.

My focus will always be to listen to you and provide support and guidance in a warm and secure environment.

I can also provide telephone or video counselling on request.

Testimonials

“Starting therapy was a big decision for me, after thinking about it for months I took the jump into it. I was very hesitant at first and didn’t know what to expect. However, I now only have positive things to say about it and would encourage others to do so. Jo is very easy to talk to and non-judgemental. Jo has helped me believe in myself again, to not be too harsh on myself and to understand that I am doing what’s right for me. She has helped increase my confidence and realise I have the power and control over my life. Yes, at times there are uncomfortable questions, but this is all part of the journey to help you make changes and understand behaviours etc. I would highly recommend Jo to anyone who needs to talk through issues they have.” G.H.

“Thank you very much – mental peace is priceless. Its changed my life and given me the tools to look forward, manage and accept myself.” H.P.

“ i feel a lot better, than when I first came. I feel as though I have changed more as a person in a good way” I.F.

“ I understand who I want to be!  Ask for support, awareness,  self care, listen more,  feelings/ emotions, be honest  and talk more. My counsellor has been my Rock! I could not have got where I am without her, and that is the honest truth! T.R.

“Thank you for all your help from these sessions.

I feel forever better thanks to your help.” H.P.

I’m doing well in exams and got an apprenticeship. I felt listened to

“My starting goal was to not be here – but everyone who's in a tough spot should give it a go even if they don't want too.” B.H.

“I have been happy with my treatment throughout. I have a better understanding of myself, I’m more confident, understand my emotions, and am not beating myself up.” M.C.

“I learnt that one of my emotions is connected to all of them. I learned how to communicate to people about how I work” H.C.
